My art has consisted mostly of photography for the last year and two months of intensive butterfly origami. This has been an unwanted hiatus. Christmas Eve morning my pain management doctor will kill the facet joint nerves with microwave heating on the left side of my neck. C3, C4, C5, C6. Once recovered I hope to be able to physically do more weaving and other fiber arts. Have a lot of ideas in my sketchbook, so it is a matter of having the energy again. My New Years focus will be my job search--working with the IL Division of Rehabilitation Services, creating art that now lives in my head and on the pages of my sketchbook, recovering fro

Coming to grips with permanent hearing loss and getting a diagnosis and treatment for a balance disorder. Some say this is what Van Gogh had. I can understand the DIY ear amputation all too well. When the tinnitus is severe with pressure and pain you will do most anything to get rid of it. VG didn't have the option of medical treatment we have today. Whatever the disorder he struggled with, it is truly amazing he was able to accomplish all he did but extremely sad he did not live to see his work receive the recognition for its impact on changing the course of art history.

Job hunting---need to start making art to relieve the stress. It also energizes me and helps me stay focused on my goals. Thinking of returning to canvas and playing with some multi-media methods. Using my photos, ethnic music, and walks for inspiration. Reading about Australian Aboriginal Art has added to my perception of art and meaning-making. As for the job, looking for a position in new student programs.advising or career services. Someone suggested applying to art schools! Such a great idea, combine my art/museum interests and training with my teaching/workforce/career development training.

Hey Becky,

I know it has been a long time since we have talked, how are you doing? Kyle and I are managing. It looks like he will have a job again soon. I’m stressing out about my mid program review while trying to plan our wedding. Speaking of which do you happen to have a list of important family members we should invite? Address would be great too. Kyle wants a small wedding, but I don’t think he understands my definition of a small wedding. Hopefully once I show him the list of guest he will understand. Miss you much. Write back soon.
